First Lady Betty Griffin-Keller
In 1993, Rev. Keller recorded her first solo album, “Betty-Griffin-Keller”, on the Gospo-Centric label and was the 1994 Stellar Music Award nominee for Best Traditional Female Vocalist of the Year for the song “You Can Make It”.
Rev. Keller has traveled and performed throughout South Africa , Europe, The Holy Land, Caribbean, and the United States . She was blessed to travel to China and was apart of a historical journey to North Korea for the “World’s Friendship Spring Arts Festival 2000”. She was honored to have performed, along with the Southern California Community Choir, for Queen Elizabeth.
In 1994, visionaries of Pasadena City College (PCC) introduced Gospel Music to its music curriculum in which Rev. Keller was asked and continues to be, the Gospel Music Instructor. This is the first Gospel Choir class in the history of the college. California State Senator, Jack Scott (then President at PCC) and Dr. Paul Kilian, Dean of the Music Division, were and remain very supportive in the strides to bring Gospel Music to PCC and the community.
Rev. Betty Keller’s second gospel solo recording was produced by Mr. Donald Lawrence, and was performed live in Washington , D.C. November 1998, on the NaJeune Productions, Inc. label. God has expanded her territory to include the writing, producing and directing of the soul changing stage play, “A Touch of Reality” performed most recently at The Wilshire Ebell Theater, Los Angeles, California.
